Arch. Patrick Tan obtained his Bachelor of Science in Architecture degree from the University of Santo Tomas in 1994. He apprenticed at the firm J.P. Ansaldo, Arkitekto, which is based in Davao City, for six months; then with Manila-based Perspective Plus International, which provided him with stints in Singapore. From these internships, he mastered the finer points of manual and artistic architectural rendering.
Under the good guidance and tutelage of the principal architect himself of RSD Gutierrez Architects, Arch. Ricardo Gutierrez, and his partner, he was able to learn the internal dynamics of a successful architectural firm.
From an initial portfolio of a myriad of mid-range to upscale residential projects in the southern city, his list of projects has grown to include schools, commercial and institutional buildings, and industrial and residential developments throughout Mindanao. His reputation and expertise in his profession have improved all the more through the years as evidenced by the increasing number of his satisfied and repeat clients.
In 2008, Arch. Tan established P.C. Tan Architects & Associates to better reflect the growing firm’s dynamism and direction. His team of designers is specialized in conceptualizing, planning, designing, and managing projects of various infrastructure. P.C. Tan Architects & Associates maintains mutual collaboration with its pool of savvy consultants, i.e., engineers, interior designers, landscape artists, and urban planners, in order to provide cohesive, harmonious, and complete architectural services to valued clients. In the present global focus, the role that architecture plays in creating a safe, sustainable, and humane world has never been more pronounced. P.C. Tan Architects and Associates aims to lead the way into a greener and more beautifully built environment by integrating the latest in design and construction materials and methodology into its commissions. The firm believes that authenticity, relevance, and sustainability are the fundamentals of good architecture.
Today, Arch. Tan continues to build upon his existing core of competencies by participating in prestigious national and international conferences, such as the Annual Archifest in Singapore. Projects are becoming more complex and some of the firm’s current ecology-driven projects incorporate dual water system piping and electrical wiring for the use of solar power and rainwater to ensure ample supply during shortages and interruptions as well as savings for the proponents. In order to successfully design spaces for people, Arch. Tan wants to make sure that the firm is ecoresponsive.
